Unlocking Creativity: Exploring the Benefits of Collaborative Songwriting

It’s album launch time and we are bringing the creative blend of collaborative music to your doorstep. Made in Difference begins to put on for Atlanta as we rollout our first edition of OTW Tapes releasing on May 15th. We pride ourselves in encouraging uniqueness and individuality to fully express ideas through inspiring songwriting.

There has been remarkable progress since we made the first edition of our Atlanta’s “OTW” Tapes (collab tape) in 2023 and we have finally made it to release! As our biggest cheerleaders, we are excited to announce to you our 2nd edition of “OTW'' Tapes set to launch in Chattanooga, TN this September!!  Tickets are now available on madeindifference.com.  The album features artists from the Atlanta area like Forever The Rebel, The Don, T.E., S.Dot, Payday Cash, and Tiien.  The album was fully produced by E.Z. who came from Dallas, TX to be a part of the tape, and Milkman Productions out of Atlanta who provided a large help behind the scenes (The DJ Khaled of the tape so to speak.)

Do you have the creative spark to make music that resonates with the soul and mind? Click here to fill out our interest form and stand the chance to join us between August 30-September 2, 2024.  We look to assemble the most diverse group possible to create an album that appeals to every lover of good music, bringing back some creative excitement that music has been missing in recent years.  Many have been shying away from collaborations as music gets easier to create in comfortable spaces, but in recent years a lot of collaborations have been the magic touch that it took to blow that artist out of the water.

Recent Collaborations in the Music Industry

The music creation process itself involves some form of collaboration. We have discovered how top artists sometimes employ songwriters. There is also the growing wave of combining music genres like Hip-Hop, Rock, Country, or R&B.

Here are some top music collaborations that revolutionized the industry perception of cross-genre songwriting:

ENEMY: JID & Imagine Dragons

“Enemy” was jointly sung by pop rock artists Imagine Dragons and rap artist JID. It became JID's first-ever top 5 song in the US. “Enemy” went more than 3x platinum and was a major hit for Imagine Dragons since their 2017’s “Thunder”.  The song went on to be featured in the series “Arcane”, giving it a much wider audience.

OLD TOWN ROAD REMIX: Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus

This Old Town Road Remix by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus was a collaborative masterpiece that took the world by storm. “Old Town Road” had already reached incredible success on its own, infusing two nearly opposite worlds to create magic that won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2020 Grammys. A careful reflection on the lyrics depicts the creative use of music to express the duo's personalities, appealing to the whole world and creating one of the highest streaming songs of all time.

BROADWAY GIRLS: Lil Durk & Morgan Wallen

Another collaborative music success is “Broadway Girls” by Lil Durk and Morgan Wallen. It was the first time the country music artist, Morgan Wallen, recorded on a trap beat. Wallen featured on rapper Lil Durk's album titled “Almost Healed” with “Stand By Me”.  Both songs going on to become platinum certified and the latter being a big song on Tiktok.

Final Takeaway

The music stage is a fast-paced arena, and we encourage promising artists to explore the creative world of collaboration across genres. The last decade showcased hip-hop artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, and the late Juice WLRD cross into rock music. While they may not have made full-on rock music, the use of the aesthetic and creativity inspired by other genres is a great way to bring something different to the table.  Follow us on this journey at Made in Difference as we continue to learn how to boldly step outside our creative comfort zone.
